Ada Penney

Passed peacefully away in the presence of her loving family at Private Josiah Squibb Memorial Pavilion, Carbonear on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, Ada Lillian Penney of Carbonear, age 78 years. Predeceased by parents: Chesley and Janie Wareham; infant son: David Penney; brothers: Albert and Jim (Lorraine) Wareham; niece: Brenda Lewis; nephews: David Pike and Keith Wareham; parents-in-law: William and Doris Penney. Leaving to mourn, her loving husband of 52 years, Guy; one daughter: Deanne (Eddie) Whelan; one son: Craig; four grandchildren: Jane (Daniel), Allison, Emma, and Austin; one brother: Lon (Venie) Wareham, Conception Bay South; three sisters: Ruby (Donald, deceased) Pike, Carbonear, Frances (Ken) Coombs, Upper Island Cove, and Inez (Jordan) Lewis, Carbonear; sisters-in-law: Judy (Cyril) Anthony, Clarke’s Beach, Yvonne (John) Antle, Victoria, and Glenis (David, deceased) Pike, Carbonear; brother-in-law: Roy (Bonnie) Penney, Paradise; special friends: Ruth Baker and Rosemary Gover; also a large number of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Ada was a person of strong faith; who was dedicated to her church, the Salvation Army. She was a devoted wife and mother; who also valued family time with her siblings, in-laws, nieces, and nephews. She was a respected nurse by her peers and the communities in which she worked during her 30 plus years in the nursing profession. The family would like to extend a sincere thanks to the staff of the long-term care facility of Carbonear, for their kindness and care shown over the past 5 ½ years. Visitation at Noel's Funeral Home, Water Street, Carbonear on Thursday, December 2 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral service on Friday, December 3 at 2:00 p.m. from the Salvation Army Citadel, Carbonear. Interment in the Salvation Army Cemetery, Carbonear North. Proof of vaccination required for visitation and funeral service. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations in her memory may be made to the Salvation Army Family Services Fund, P.O. Box 137, Carbonear, NL, A1Y 1B6. ****
