Lula Mae Estep Dotson, 92 years of age of the Paw Paw section of Phelps, KY, passed away Monday, November 29, 2021 at Pikeville Medical Center. Born February 22, 1930 in Dickenson County, VA, she was the daughter of the late John Henry Estep and Sarah Taylor Estep. Lula was saved at the age of 15, the oldest member of the Mill Fork Freewill Baptist church, had attended since 1962 and loved going to church. She loved gardening, quilting and was a wonderful cook. A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great great grandmother, sister and aunt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Arthur Dotson, children Paul Dotson, Edith Dotson, Carol Wolford, great-grandson Joseph Paul Hurley, granddaughter Suzanna Varney, five brothers, and four sisters. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Survivors include her children Bill Dotson and wife Lilly, Larry Dotson and wife Lisa, Edd Dotson and wife Debbie, Harold Dotson, Earnel Dotson all of Paw Paw, KY, Dale Dotson and wife Donna of Richlands, VA, Margaret Stiltner and husband Elsie of Big Rock, VA. She is also survived by a special niece Naydine Justice of Hurley, VA, twenty-seven grandchildren, twenty three great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law Earma Estep, Vina Jean Dotson, and Shirley Dotson, several nieces and nephews. Funeral service for Lula Mae Estep Dotson will be held at the Mill Fork Freewill Baptist Church on Paw Paw Road, Phelps, KY, Thursday, December 2, 2021 at 12:00 noon with Elders Tommy Conn, Jim Kerry, and Michael Casey. Burial will follow in the Dotson Family Cemetery, Colley Fork Road, Paw Paw, KY. Active pallbearers will be her family and friends. The family will receive friends at the Mill Fork Freewill Baptist Church, Wednesday, after 6:00 p.m. with evening service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Online condolences may be sent to www.shortridgeramey.com.
