Jose Carrasco Mercado was born March 20, 1932 in San Antonio Distrito Bravo, Chihuahua, Mexico.

The oldest of three children of Ramon and Leonarda Mercado. In 1952, he married his beautiful bride Josefa Cervantes and started a family soon after, in Caseta Chihuahua, Mexico.

He would move north to the United States in 1964 and settled with his family in Manteca 1966.

Jose was a man of many talents. He worked well with his hands. He excelled in carpentry and was wonderful in agriculture. His knowledge and experience would allow him to thrive and lead a successful career. Jose had a passion for music; it was common to find instruments laying around the house. He loved playing the guitar, harmonica, drums and violin. Jose shared his passion for music by participating in his church choir at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and most recently at Our Lady of Guadalupe, Lathrop. Not only did he have a passion for music but he also adored animals especially his dogs.

Jose will be remembered for his good sense of humor, great story telling, his gentle soul and his love for nature. Jose lived by the beat of his own drum enjoying every moment and experience.

Jose will live in our hearts forever as a loving father, wonderful grandpa and devoted husband
