Jacquelyn "Jackie" Dee Wells Obituary

Jacquelyn “Jackie” Dee Wells, 88 of Washington, died Monday, November 29, 2021 at the Pleasantview Home in Kalona.

A Celebration of her life will be 11:00AM, Friday, December 3, 2021 at the Washington United Methodist Church. Family will receive friends 1 1/2 hours prior to the service. Private burial of her cremains will be at the Elm Grove Cemetery with military honors.  The service will be livestreamed on the Beatty-Peterseim Facebook page. Beatty-Peterseim Funeral, Cremation Care and Monument Service is assisting with arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be designated to FluffyButts Rescue Resort.

Jackie was born December 28, 1932 in St. Paul, MN, the daughter of Chester A. and Lorraine A. (Larsen) Greiff. She graduated from Staples High School in 1950 and enlisted and served in the US Air Force. She was united in marriage to Donald Wells on November 1, 1951 in San Antonio, TX, recently celebrating 70 years of marriage.

She was a faithful member of the Washington United Methodist Church, co-founder of the Washington Humane Society, Art in the Park organizer and organized events for Lending Hands, Blair House and the Washington Public Library. She traveled to Europe, Canada and England. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, painting and was an award winning water colorist.

She was employed at Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids, school lunch lady and YWCA Executive Director.

Survivors include her husband Don of Washington, daughters, Kathy Wells (Chris Bajorek), Penryn, CA, Christine Wells, Washington, IA and Carrie Wells, Riverside, IA; grandchildren Tasha Marshall (Marvin), Carmichael, CA, Kellen-Wells Mangold (Robyn), River Falls, WI, Anton Bajorek (Shayna), Lincoln, CA, Cale Wells-Mangold, Cedar Rapids, IA and Nikolai Bajorek (Christa), Denver, CO; seven great grandchildren; half-sister Sande Palmer, Des Moines, IA; dogs Gabe and Fitz, cats Nikki and Pip.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
