<p>&nbsp;Ruth Irving Tanner, 90, of Naples, FL, formerly of Norwalk, died on November 29, 2021, in Florida.</p> <p>Daughter of John L. &amp; Edith Wood Irving, she was beloved by her husband James Edward Tanner Jr, her husband since August 8, 1953 until his death in October of 1995. When Jim was a lieutenant in the Army and stationed in Berlin, she traveled to Germany with her newborn baby where they lived until he was discharged.</p> <p>&ldquo;Mothe&rdquo; was a volunteer at the Norwalk Hospital and member of St. Matthew Church.&nbsp; She graduated from Norwalk High School.&nbsp;&nbsp; A Secretary at Silver Hills in Norwalk, CT she transcribed a book by Dr. Terhume.&nbsp; Later she worked as a secretary at J.M. Layton for over 20 years until she retired. An avid gardener and golfer she and her husband Jim took amazing care of their Norwalk, CT home until she moved to Naples, FL.</p> <p>She is survived by her children, Ruth Tanner Burritt and her husband William Burritt who live in Beacon Falls, CT, Cynthia Tanner Lubin and her husband Bruce Lubin of Long Grove, IL&nbsp; and Dr. James Edward Tanner and his wife Dr. Carolyn-Clegg Tanner of Boxford, MA.&nbsp; Grandmother to Brea Lubin Malloy, Jenna Lubin Duboe, Marissa Lubin Buchan, James Donald Tanner and Jacqueline Tanner.&nbsp; She was the proud great grandmother to Owen &amp; Leah Malloy, Tanner &amp; Quinn Duboe, and Parker &amp; Cole Buchan.&nbsp; She was predeceased by her sister Marjorie Brown of Westport, CT, John L. Irving of Georgia, and Norma Wagner of Westport, CT.&nbsp; Along with her brother, William Irving of Arizona, and Joan Johnson in Florida, she has many nieces and nephews.</p> <p>Her family will receive friends on Monday, December 6, from 4 to 6 PM at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Avenue, Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, December 7 at St. Matthew Church, 216 Scribner Ave, Norwalk, with burial to follow at St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford.</p> <p>In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Alzheimer Association Connecticut Chapter, 200 Executive Blvd S #4B, Southington, CT 06489 in her honor.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>

 Ruth Irving Tanner, 90, of Naples, FL, formerly of Norwalk, died on November 29, 2021, in Florida.

Daughter of John L. & Edith Wood Irving, she was beloved by her husband James Edward Tanner Jr, her husband since August 8, 1953 until his death in October of 1995. When Jim was a lieutenant in the Army and stationed in Berlin, she traveled to Germany with her newborn baby where they lived until he was discharged.

“Mothe” was a volunteer at the Norwalk Hospital and member of St. Matthew Church.  She graduated from Norwalk High School.   A Secretary at Silver Hills in Norwalk, CT she transcribed a book by Dr. Terhume.  Later she worked as a secretary at J.M. Layton for over 20 years until she retired. An avid gardener and golfer she and her husband Jim took amazing care of their Norwalk, CT home until she moved to Naples, FL.
