Richard Larry Comer

<p>Richard Larry Comer, 72 of Port Deposit, MD, passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Perry Point VA Medical Center, Perry Point, MD.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>He was born in Havre de Grace, MD, on March 23, 1949.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Larry served his country proudly during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Navy.&nbsp; He was part of the first crew on the USS John F. Kennedy (CV-67).</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Larry was self-employed for 20 years as a brick and block mason.&nbsp; He was well known in the county for the quality of his work and was very proud of each job he completed.&nbsp; He then went to work as a sheet metal fabricator for Fairfield Mechanical, Lititz, PA, retiring after 18 years of service.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>He was a member of American Legion Mason Dixon Post 194, Rising Sun, MD.&nbsp; He attended North East Methodist Church, North East, MD.&nbsp; He enjoyed anything to do with trains and the railroad. But the light of his life was his granddaughter, Emily Faith and he loved her with all his heart.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years: Brenda (Riddle) Comer; one son: Richard Larry Comer, Jr. (Martha Ann Cook) of Elkton, MD; his mother: Rose Mary (Lewis) Comer of MT; his granddaughter: Emily Faith Comer; his sister-in-law: Patty (Jeff), to whom he was a father figure; his special sister-in-law: Connie (Tom); three brother-in-laws who thought of him as a brother: Mo (Lori), Bill (Maria) and Steve (Gina); his uncle: Robert Lewis(Barbara); and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Larry was preceded in death by his father: Bryan Comer; and brother: George Jenkins.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at 12:00 noon at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, with visitation beginning at 11:00 am.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Interment with Military Honors will follow at 2:00 pm in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to support hospice care for the veterans at Perry Point.&nbsp; Please make check payable to VAMHCS and send to funeral home.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>

Larry and Brenda helped get us started
getting our house.
We stayed with them until our house was delivered.
Larry actually put our basement in.
