Marion G. Goodwin Obituary

Marion G. (Hilton) Goodwin, 93, passed away peacefully at her home November 27, 2021.

She was born in South Berwick on October 2, 1928 the daughter of Burpee and Bernice (Young) Hilton.  Marion was raised on the family farm where she began her love and respect for farm living.

She worked at the South Berwick Shoe Factory where she reconnected with Kenneth Goodwin; marrying June 24, 1949.  Marion and Ken bought a farm on “Cabbage Hill” in North Berwick in 1954 which they named Deb-Tone Farm in honor of their two children.  Marion and Ken’s love for the farm and preserving that way of life was evident as they worked with the support of the community to enter the farm into the Maine Farm Trust which will ensure that the land is forever a farm.

On their farm, they raised prize winning Shorthorns and Herefords.  Marion worked alongside her husband tending to the animals and gardens.  She spent many hours in the kitchen cooking for the family and canning their produce for winter months.  Marion enjoyed going to the fairs with the grandchildren and the 4H program.

Marion was pre-deceased by her husband of 71 years, Kenneth Goodwin September 26, 2020; her brothers, Warren, Bernard, Edward, Robert, & Norbert Hilton, sister Leah (Hilton) Nowell.  Surviving are her two children, Debra Stillberger and husband Tom of North Berwick; son Anthony Goodwin and wife Susan of Rochester, NH; brother, Burpee Hilton of South Berwick, sister Ruth Woodard of Rochester, NH; 4 grandchildren, Michael (Sierra)  Stillberger,  Melissa (David) Gibbons, Wanda Kimball Ballentine and husband Ben, Tony (Angela) Goodwin; 6 great grandchildren, Tyler Cheever, Owen Stillberger, Maxwell Stillberger, Emily Stillberger, Claire Gibbons and Tobias Gibbons.

There will be no public services.

Interment at a later date in Woodlawn Cemetery, South Berwick, ME.  Those who wish may contribute to the Maine 4H Foundation, York Complex #1, Orono, ME 04469.
