Hilda Mae Langford

Hilda Mae Langford, 89, of Hacker’s Creek Road Buckhannon passed away on Sunday, November 28th, 2021 in United Hospital Center of Bridgeport, WV. She was born in Gem in Braxton County on February 16th, 1932: daughter of the late Clarence Gillespie and Bessie Leo (Riley) Gillespie. On November 6th, 1948, she married Melvin J. Langford who preceded her in death on April 7th, 2017. Forever cherishing Hilda’s memories are two daughters: Nancy Locke Squires of Jane Lew, WV and Joy Langford Madore of St Albans, WV, one son: Larry J. Langford of Hacker’s Creek, WV, three grandchildren: Patrick Daniel Langford, Sara Elizabeth Simmons and Elizabeth Madore Lewis and 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sibling: Robert Gillespie of Centerville, OH and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband Melvin, Hilda was preceded in death by two sons: Melvin Lee Langford and Clarence Ray Langford, one brother: Clarence Langford, Jr. and two sisters: Dortha Jean Hess and Mary Frances Nicholson. Mrs. Langford was a homemaker. She was a member of the Berlin United Methodist Church. She enjoyed working in her flower beds, was a great cook, and canning. Hilda also liked to read and watch westerns. Hilda and her husband Melvin had horses and enjoyed taking trail rides together. Family and friends will be received at the Hardman Family Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Thursday, December 2nd, 2021 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. when funeral services will be held from the Hardman Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Marvin Stalnaker officiating. Interment will follow services in the Stalnaker Cemetery of Glenville, WV. Donations may be made in memory of Hilda to the Serenity Hope Assisted Living and dropped off the funeral home. The family requests that due to Covid 19, masks be worn during visitation and services. On-line condolences and life stories in memory of Hilda may be expressed at hardmanfamilyfuneralhome.com.
