James Marion Cook Obituary

James M. Cook, 91 of Greenville, GA died Sunday, November 28, 2021 at Upson Regional Medical Center in Thomaston, GA. Mr. Cook was born May 9, 1930 in Ellaville, GA the son of Henry Stewart Cook and Ruby Bell Cook. He served his country in the U. S. Navy. He met Sara Ann Jenkins Cook the love of his life 1966 and later married her on October 21, 1967. They where living in Atlanta at the time and both being from rural Georgia they both longed to return to their roots. In early 1970's James and Sara found land in Meriwether County and began establishing their homestead. They where married for 54 years prior to Sara's passing in March of 2021. He enjoyed fishing, cutting his grass and working the land that they had homesteaded together. His nickname was Paddle Foot, however Sara called him Bull Moose. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Sara, great-grandson Austin James, sister Doris Mitchell and brother Charles Edwin Cook. He is survived by his two daughters JoAnn Spark of Greenville, GA and Debbie Sharp of Seneca, SC, two sons Lawrence Pollard of Griffin, GA and Thomas Pollard of Jonesboro, GA, brother Thomas Cook of Tucker, GA, sister Patricia Guinn of Donalsonville, GA,eight grandchildren Teresa, Michael, William, Justin, Tom, Scott, Bryan and Amanda and sixteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Chapel service for Mr. Cook will be held 3:00 pm Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at Cox Funeral Home 93 Prather-Barnes Road Manchester, GA 31816, The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon from 1:00pm until 3:00pm at the funeral home prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Greenville City Cemetery, Greenville, GA. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be given in memory of James M. Cook to the American Cancer Society.
