Wayne R. Keller age 92 of Stockport, passed away Saturday, November 27, 2021, at Sunnybrook Living Care Center.

Visitation for family & friends will be 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., Saturday, December 4, 2021, at Behner Funeral Home.  Celebration of Life will follow starting at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor Nathan Chaplin officiating.  Burial of cremains will be at a later date at Wright Cemetery. 

Memorials may be made to Jefferson County 4-H Horse program and mailed to Andrea Harlan, 2735 Stockport Road, Fairfield, Iowa 52556.

Wayne was born July 2, 1929, to John R. and Bernice O. (Warning) Keller.  He married Phyllis Marie VanPatten on August 13, 1949, at North Court Baptist Church in Ottumwa, Iowa.  They celebrated 64 years of marriage before she passed away on August 28, 2013.

Wayne lived all his life in Jefferson County and was a farmer.  He loved anything to do with horses. He raised and bred quarter horses and spent many hours riding them. Wayne was a member of American Quarter Horse Association.  He was one of the first nationally certified AQHA judges in the Midwest.  Wayne was also very musical and played in a blue grass band for 15 years.  Wayne raised hunting dogs and took them racoon and coyote hunting.  He was also a member of the Stockport Christian Church.

Wayne will be missed by his daughter, Andrea (Victor) Harlan of Fairfield; 2 grandchildren, Max (Billie) Harlan and Erika (Zach) Harlan -Jenkins; step grandson, Sean Quarles; 6 great grandchildren, Cody Harlan of Iowa, Erin Harlan, Peyton Harlan, Cord Windmeyer, Steele Windmeyer and Cody Harlan of Montana; three siblings, Melvin (Anna Belle) Keller, Joyce (Jim) Burton-Conway and Jean Schuck; and many nieces and nephews.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, John and Bernice; son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Kim; sister, Lois Roe; and brother-in-law, John Schuck.
