<p>Leo E. Beat, 84, died November 27, at St. Francis Hospital, Wichita.</p><p><br></p><p>He was born Jan 10, 1937, in Murdock, Kansas, the son of Henry L. and Barbara M. Heitz Beat. </p><p><br></p><p>Leo grew up on the family farm and then served in the US Army. A longtime parishioner of St Joseph Parish in Wichita, he was also active in the Knights of Columbus. He began his career as a welder at Watkins Steel and then worked for over 20 years with The Boeing Company. </p><p><br></p><p>On April 29, 1961, Leo married Judith von Merveldt of Wichita. He is survived by his wife, Judy of 60 years; daughters Debra Sanders, Diane (Tom) Evans; son Jeffrey; brothers Alvin and Eugene; sister Jane (Tom) Bailie; grandsons Devin, Jared and Jack. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Robert, Gerald, Ernest; and sisters Alice Claven and Dorothy Dix.</p><p><br></p><p>Rosary will be 10:00 am and Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m.,Tuesday, November 30th at St Joseph Catholic Church, Wichita. He will be laid to rest immediately following at Resurrection Cemetery.</p><p><br></p><p>Memorial contributions in Leo’s name may be directed to the American Cancer Society.</p>
