Dante Rosselli

Dante Anthony Rosselli, 63, of New Haven died peacefully on November 26, 2021 at Yale New Haven Hospital with his husband of 12 years, Gregory Campora, and his siblings by his side. He was born in New Haven on July 1, 1958, the oldest son of the late Dante & Josephine (Amaturo) Rosselli. He is survived by his husband Gregory and his siblings, Philip (Maureen Butler) Rosselli, Gina (Randy) Boswell and Richard (Jinky Ang) Rosselli. He was a proud uncle to Vanessa (Joshua) St. Clair, Philip (Evanica) Rosselli, Veronica Boswell, Olivia Boswell, Maxwell Rosselli and Gabriella Rosselli, and great uncle to Cecilia Rosselli. He also leaves behind his beloved rescue dogs, Peggy & Bosco. Dante was raised in the Wooster Square and Westville sections of New Haven. He attended Conte School, St Aedan’s School, Notre Dame High School and Fairfield University. He was employed as a perfusionist at Yale New Haven Hospital for over thirty years as well as a few stints in California and Florida. From a very early age, Dante demonstrated musical talent as a pianist and an organist; gifts that he shared through his work in church and theater. Dante was a lover of all musical genres, but especially opera. His passion for music and the arts brought him and Greg frequently to New York, California and London where they visited friends and saw as many shows, concerts and operas as they could. When he wasn’t heading to New York City, he was heading north to Cape Cod to host friends at his Truro home. Dante loved to garden, in both New Haven and Truro, and was especially proud of his tomatoes, fig trees, and flowers. Known for his generous spirit and infectious laugh, Dante was beloved by all who knew him. He was considered the family historian due to his incredible storytelling ability as well as his uncanny recall of the most minute details of people, places, and experiences. He was often at the center of family activity, especially as the oldest grandson of the late Vincenza Amaturo with whom he shared a special bond. Most of all, Dante will be missed for the kindness and grace he showed to others without fail and the joy he brought to life. Dante’s smile was a beacon, and his outlook on life, a tonic. Nearly everyone who knew Dante had an inside joke with him. There was always laughter and light around him. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday evening from 4-7 p.m. at the Iovanne Funeral Home, Inc. 11 Wooster Place in New Haven. A private burial will be held at All Saints Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas More Chapel, 268 Park Street in New Haven. Masks are required for all services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Connecticut Humane Society or Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
