Joseph Anthony Lammert, Sr.

Joseph A Lammert, Sr., born March 23, 1934 in St. Louis, Missouri to Charles and Florence Amelia (Daulby) Lammert. passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2021. Joe was predeceased by his siblings Madeline (Pete) Graves, Charles, Bernard (Mary Lou), Catherine (Charles) Weaver, Herbert and Mary Jean (Bill) Davidson. Joe married his childhood sweetheart, Shirley Kellems, on September 17, 1955, and together they raised three children (Mary Ann, Joe, Jr. (deceased) and Jennifer (Michael) Waite). Joe was devoted to taking care of his family and helped raise his first grandson, Matthew. Even when his job transferred him to Texas and later Philadelphia, he maintained his family ties in St. Louis through family reunions, and playing golf with his brother Herb and nephew Tom. For years he and his wife enjoyed spending time together gardening and taking care of their yard. Joe was known at work and home for his sarcastic humor and blunt honesty. You always knew where you stood with Joe Lammert. In his retirement years, he enjoyed his daily crossword puzzles and reading a good book. His son-in-law Michael remembers his father-in-law as being “like a father” to him as an adult. As Michael said, “With my dad dying so young, Joe filled a huge void in my life.” In addition to his immediate family, Joe is survived by his grandchildren, Matthew (Lisa) Lammert, Luke Page, Michael Page, Cody Lammert, Ryan Waite and Alex Waite. Joe also has five great-grandchildren, Andrew, Abigail, and Aidan Lammert and Ike and Theo Page. In lieu of floral arrangements, the family requests donations in Joe’s memory to either St. Jude Hospital (ALSAC/St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital), 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or National MS Society, P. O. Box 91891, Washington, DC 20090. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10 am on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Assumption BVM Catholic Church, 300 State Rd., West Grove, PA.
