Harold Dean Bales

Harold Dean Bales, 87-year-old Salina resident, passed away, Thursday, November 25, 2021, at the Salina Nursing Center. He was born on May 9, 1934, in Dewar, Oklahoma to Jake and Bertha (Durbin) Bales. Harold was raised in Dewar and Colcord; he was a 1952, graduate of Colcord High School. On August 28, 1953, he married the love of his life, Lois Jean Spencer; they have been married for 68 years. Harold had worked at McDonnell-Douglas, the Cement Plant, IPAC, Williams Construction, and had his own gas station and feed store in Salina. Harold loved to run coon dogs and beagle hounds. He also raised all his own hunting hounds. Harold loved to tell stories to his children and grandchildren; he was a great family man, who loved the outdoors. He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Jake Bales, siblings, Warren Bales, Evelyn Wale, Beatrice Nolte, Carl Bales, J. D. Bales and Leroy Bales. The family includes, his wife Jean of the home, sons, Rick Bales of Salina, Randy Bales and wife Linda of Claremore, Danny Bales and wife Robin of Salina, Joe Etheridge, who they considered their son of Eucha, grandchildren, Tanya Hartley (Matt), Amanda Sorum (Josh), Curtis Bales (Dusty), Matt Bales (Krystal), Brook Sanders (Austin), Deanna Goins (Wade), Cody Bales (Leah), great-grandchildren, Brock, Alli, Jackson, Ellison, Lexi, Abbigail, Blay, Tenley, Kealy, Kyleigh, John and Luke. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, November 28, 2021, at the Stephens-Key Chapel in Pryor. The celebration of life will be held on Monday, November 29, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at the Blue Springs Church in Salina, with Pastor Lorne Beck officiating.
