Li Li, 59, beloved wife of Pingtao Tang and mother to daughter Cacey Tang and son-in-law George Zhang, passed away peacefully with her family by her bedside on November 20, 2021 at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, DC. Li Li was born on November 22, 1962 in Hengyang, Hunan Province. She graduated with a degree in Chemistry from Hunan Normal University in 1982. She started her career as a teacher at Hengyang No.1 High School, then subsequently at Nanhua University School of Public Health as an Associate Professor and an Acting Director of the chemistry department, and later at Shenzhen Center for Disease Control and Prevention. She participated in several scientific research projects and published numerous academic papers. She moved to Canada with her husband and daughter in 1999 and came to the United States in 2000, settling in Maryland. She worked at a number of biotechnology firms in Maryland, including Histoserv, Ception Therapeutics and most recently at Quality Biological in Gaithersburg, Maryland. She worked diligently, managed her household with loving care, read widely and loved to learn. She enjoyed life immensely, savored managing her investments, and loved and always appreciated good food, fine fashion and beautiful scenery. She was a devoted daughter and daughter-in-law. She was sincere, kind and generous to every relative and friend. She was a great sister-in-law, friend, colleague, and neighbor and always kind to others. Li Li, your kindness and warmth, beautiful voice and smile will always remain in the hearts of those who love you. We are so heartbroken that you left us so suddenly. But you will always be with us. May your next journey be comfortable and may you rest in peace. Li Li is survived by her husband Pingtao Tang, daughter Cacey Tang, son-in-law George Zhang. She is also survived by her mother Gong Yongyao, brother Li Wei, sister-in-law Li Jinxia, and nephew Li Chuyang who reside in Guangzhou, China. On Saturday, December 4, 2021 a public visitation will be held from 10:00AM – 11:00AM immediately followed by a service at Robert A. Pumphrey Funeral Home at 7557 Wisconsin Avenue, Bethesda, Maryland 20814. Li Li’s family is inviting their guests to join them at 12:00PM for an Interment Ceremony at Parklawn Memorial Park at 12800 Veirs Mill Road, Rockville, Maryland 20853. *Please note that the events at the funeral home will be indoors and the family request that all attendees test negative for Covid-19 and wear KN-95 masks at all times.
