Obituary
Helen Marie Sprague passed away at home in Montgomery on November 24th 2021 at the age of 99. She was born on May 27, 1922, in Aurora, IL, the oldest child of Carl and Augusta (Ruth) Deisher. She was raised in Aurora, and graduated from East Aurora High School—a proud Tomcat her entire life! After graduation, she worked at Jewel Food Store and Menton’s Jewelry Store before devoting her life to family and volunteer work—assisting with scouting organizations, school classrooms and church. At First Congregational Church in Montgomery she was responsible for initiating and teaching special education Sunday Church School. Family and friends gave her life meaning. Crediting four years of sewing classes at East High, Helen was known for her sewing and crocheting skills. Many who knew her in later life can point to items she happily gifted them. She taught us the joy of doing for others. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 69 years, Robert Sprague, her daughter, Laurie Ann Sprague and her brother, William Deisher. She is survived by her daughter Jan (John) Sprague-Williams of Eatonton GA; son Scott Sprague of Sandwich IL; her sister, Jane Graeff of Montgomery IL; her sister-in-law Virginia Deisher of Reynoldsburg OH; and three grandchildren: Adam (Erin Wondrak) Sprague of North Aurora IL; Andrew (Maggie Corcoran) Sprague of Mansfield IL and Amanda Sprague of Montgomery IL; two dear great grandchildren Annabelle and Connor and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Family will be receiving guests Wednesday December 1, 2021 from 10am until time of service at 11am at Dieterle Memorial Home 1120 S. Broadway, Montgomery. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, 414 River St., Montgomery IL. For guestbook and directions visit www.dieterlememorialhome.com 630-454-9441
