Rocky Mount, NC Mary Batts Vicks was born May 13, 1944, to the late Ernest Hudson and Beatrice Johnson in Enfield, NC. She transitioned from labor to reward on November 24, 2021, at home. Mary graduated from Inborden High School in Enfield, NC and completed her LPN nursing program in Richmond Virginia. Mary was employed by Parkview Hospital in Rocky Mount, NC until May of 1971 when she began working at Nash General Hospital until her retirement in 2010 due to health issues. Mary accepted Christ at Morning Star Disciple of Christ Church. In 1990 she joined Mercy and Truth Ministry. She also attended Victory in Christ Ministry and during her health issues in 2016 she became a part of Increasing Faith Ministry. Known for being a spiritual prayer warrior she gave continually of her time and resources to ministry. She was preceded in death by her husband Danny Sylvester Vick. She leavesto cherish her life and legacy her devoted daughter Shelly Morgan of the home, two sons, George Batts III (Ella) of Nashville NC, Ernest Batts (Rhonda) of Raleigh,NC; four grandchildren Deonsha Morgan of Cary, NC, Khayla Batts of Nashville, NC, Cherise Batts of Winston Salem, NC and Celine Batts of Raleigh, NC. One sister,Dorothy Ernestine Greene of Brooklyn, NY, and a host of nieces, nephews, a loving church family, other relatives, and friends. Mary’s life was a true testimony to what God can do, and even during her illness she never forgot how to call on the name of Jesus. A Visitation for Mrs. Batts-Vick will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, December 2, 2021 in the Rocky Mount chapel of H.D. Pope Funeral Home. Funeral Services for Mrs. Batts-Vick will be held on Friday, December 3, 2021, at 11:00 am at Victory in Christ Ministry located at 1180 Old Wilson Rd in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. The interment will take place immediately following the service in the Gardens of Gethsemane. These professional arrangements are entrusted to HD Pope Funeral Home, 325 Nash St., Rocky Mount,NC.
