Priscilla M Peterson Obituary

Priscilla Petersen, 94, lifelong resident of North Berwick, passed away peacefully November 22, 2021 at Pinnacle where she has lived for the past five years.

She was born October 31, 1927 to Fred “Ted” and Irene Fiel; growing up alongside four sisters and one brother then graduating North Berwick High School. She and first husband, Wally Thyng raised two children, Bill Thyng and Linda (Thyng) Alt.

Priscilla worked at her family’s store, Elm St. Market and continued there under different ownership until her retirement. She loved to volunteer for many organizations in town whether it be for the church or community center. Priscilla was a devoted sister, friend, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be missed by all those that loved her dearly.

She was predeceased by her first husband Wally Thyng, second husband, Henry Petersen, her son, William “Bill” Thyng, brother Bud Fiel, her sisters Virginia Gray, Shirley Levasseur, Anna Matthews, and most recently, Brenda Wyman. Surviving are her daughter, Linda Thyng Alt of North Berwick, daughter-in-law, Sandy Thyng of Sanford, grandson Mark Thyng and wife Sandy Starr of Essex Junction, Vermont, granddaughter Michelle Littlefield and husband Chris of Sanford, great granddaughter Taylor Langevin and her husband Josh of Brookfield, CT, great granddaughter Sydney Littlefield of Sanford and many loving nephews and nieces.

Her family would like to recognize and thank both the staff at Pinnacle of North Berwick and Wentworth Douglas Hospice Services for their compassionate care provided for Priscilla. It was difficult to have limited contact with her over the past year and a half, but it was made easier knowing that she was being cared for by such warm and compassionate people. It truly made a difference to both her and her family.

At Priscilla’s request, there will be no public services. A private burial will take place in Hillside Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, one may donate to either the Fred W. Fiel Scholarship Fund, c/o Susan Austin, PO Box 819, N Berwick, ME 03906, or  North Berwick Historical Society, P.O. Box 477, N Berwick, ME 03906
