Obituary

Guillermo “Gil” Pazmiño passed away on November 24, 2021, at the age of 50. Although the sun has set on this part of his life, Gil’s love will live on in the many lives he touched in his lifetime.

Gil completed his education as a Radiological Technologist in 1991. He immediately began working at the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. He remained a dedicated team member for 30 years.

Throughout his career, Gil’s pride was in working with Radiology students and sharing his talent, expertise, and passion for learning. He worked with over one hundred and fifty young technologists who now span across the country; from New York to Florida, and as far west as California and Oregon. His reach is far and wide, and his lessons are deeply rooted in all who learned from Gil.

The simplest pleasures in life brought Gil great joy. He loved spending quiet evenings at home with his wife and dogs, and a glass of wine in hand. Gil enjoyed exploring winding roads on his motorcycle – Bobby – and speeding through piles of freshly gathered autumn leaves, scattering them all over the road. He loved wrestling with his pup, Carter, as much as he loved cuddling with his princess, Coco Chanelle. Gil loved to eat and travel, and travel just to eat; he really loved to eat. His dream was to retire with his wife on an island and open a small bar and grill where he could hang out with guests and talk for hours, and eat.

Gil had an uncanny ability to find happiness in his daily activities. His quirky personality was contagious to everyone he encountered. He met the love of his life, Eleonor, at Mount Sinai in November 2000. It was that quirkiness, his sense of humor, and his daily trivia questions that landed him a first date…and 20 years of dates to follow…

Guillermo “Gil” Pazmiño is survived by his adoring wife, Eleonor; two sons, Jay and Jonathan; his parents, Norma and Efrain; a brother, Estuardo; three nieces; and several cousins and extended family.

A memorial for Gil is scheduled for December 4, 2021 at Thomas C. Montera Funeral Home from 11am to 4pm, with a celebration of Gil’s life to follow from 4pm to 6pm.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation on his behalf to the Hi-Tor Animal Care Center where Gil and his best pup Carter first met.
