<p>Karen Anita Smith Hodges entered into eternal rest on Sunday, November 21, 2021 at the age of 68. She was born on July 19, 1953 in Meraux, LA, the youngest child of the late James Smith, Sr. and Viola Frederick Smith. Loving wife of Ervin Hodges, Sr. for 40 wonderful years and to this union, two children were born, Ervin Hodges, Jr. (Monique) and Daisha Hodges. Proud grandmother of two, Christian Matthew Hodges and Nicholas Andrew Hodges. Sister of Rosalyn Smith, James Smith, Jr. (Debra), Francine Smith (Ronald) and Nancy Smith. Karen was a lifelong resident of St. Bernard Parish and graduated from Andrew Jackson Fundamental Magnet High School. Following high school, She graduated from the University of New Orleans and was employed by the United States Postal Service before retiring after 30 years of service. In addition to her husband, children, grandchildren, siblings and daughter-in-law, Karen also leaves to cherish her memory, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. A Celebration Service honoring the life and legacy of the late Mrs. Karen Anita Smith Hodges will be held in the Chapel of Charbonnet Family Services, 4917 E. Judge Perez Drive, Violet, LA 70092 on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at 10 a.m. Interment Merrick Cemetery. Visitation 9 a.m. in the chapel.</p>
