Gwen Marie Hanson

Gwen Marie Siddoway Hanson died peacefully surrounded by family on November 22, 2021.  Gwen was born to Ross Owen and Sadie Marie Siddoway in Hoytsville, Utah on January 14, 1932.  Losing her father at the age of 12, her mother remarried the Justice of the Peace Edward Sawley in 1946.  Gwen graduated from North Summit High School in Coalville, UT.  She met her husband John Hanson and they married on July 29, 1950. The family moved to Salt Lake City in 1955. John and Gwen lived in the same house in the Canyon Rim area for over 65 years.  Gwen had a long time career with J C Penney and Granite Furniture. Together, John and Gwen had six wonderful children; Robert John (Nancy), Anthony Seymour (Jodie), Diane Marie Eyres (Scott), Connie Jean Reynolds, Norman Lee (Denise), and Curt Joseph (Michele), 16 grandchildren and 25+ great grandchildren.  Gwen was preceded in death by her husband John and 2 grandchildren, Collin Hanson and Tamara Roark. She outlived her parents and both of her siblings; Ross (Imogene, later married Betty) and Dale (Midge) in the UT and WY area.

Gwen’s favorite pass time activities included morning walks with her special friends, baking with her husband, going to the salon, traveling and family gatherings with her famous deviled eggs. She always looked forward to Monday lunch with her family.  Gwen enjoyed her church community as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  She frequently opened her home to friends and family for good conversation.  She was quite the story teller, had a contagious laugh, and a sassy sense of humor which was loved by all. 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East. A viewing will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Saturday prior to services at the Mortuary. Interment: Coalville, Utah Cemetery at 1:30 pm.
