Doris Agnes Johnson Upper Tantallon, Nova Scotia Obituary

Doris Agnes Johnson

Johnson, Doris Agnes

Age 93, formerly of Seabright, Halifax Co., and Wilsons Cove, Guysborough Co., passed away peacefully on Friday, November 19, 2021 in High-Crest Sherbrooke Home for Special Care. She was a daughter of the late Hazlitt and Edith (Pettit) Boutilier. Doris or “Nanny/Auntie Dot” as she was known to so many devoted her life to family and most importantly the children. Generations of the family have memories of walks up the bunny trail, visits to the squirrels house, lazy summer days in the sand at Johnsons beach and Hacketts Cove and roasting marshmallows in her front yard. As the years passed and her children grew, she left her little house in Seabright and moved to her daughters home in Wilsons Cove. Here her days were devoted to her great-grandchildren, Heidie, Sierra, Abbey and Joshua. Countless tea parties were held in the playhouse with the girls over many years and much loved visits and snuggles from Joshua. She instilled the importance of unconditional love into generations and the importance of letting a child’s imagination fly. Her immortal love for her family and children will live on in many more generations to come. Whether it was teaching cookie baking or teaching her great-grandson Joshua to make blackberry jelly from scratch, the bigger the mess, the bigger her smile. In her words, “It’s always worth the smiles on their faces.” Forever loved, forever missed. Doris is survived by her grandchildren, Robert (Kerry) Wilson, Amanda Wilson; great-grandchildren, Heidie (Devan) Mills, Sierra Reeves, Abbey Reeves, Joshua Wilson; great-great-grandson, Ashton Mills; brother, Neal (Janet) Boutilier; sisters, Betty Hutt and Ruth Smith; son-in-law, Morton Wilson; several nieces, nephews and their families. She was predeceased by her husband, Simon; daughter, Ethel Wilson; brothers, Laurie, Barry and Donald Boutilier; sister, June Covey; nephews, Barrie and Laurie Boutilier. A graveside service will be held Sunday, November 28th at 2 p.m. in William Black Memorial Cemetery, Glen Margaret. Memorial donations may be made to High-Crest Sherbrooke Home for Special Care. The family would like to say a special thank you to the girls at High-Crest and for the exceptional care given to Doris over the years. All COVID-19 restrictions will be followed including proof of full vaccination. Funeral arrangements are under the dignified and compassionate care of G.W. Giffin Funeral Home, 17545 Highway 316, Country Harbour and Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, Hubbards. On-line condolences may be made at: www.gwgiffin.com or www.rawalker.ca

Dot was a kind and loving neighbour, and a good listener. I always felt welcome to drop by for a cup of tea and maybe some of her delicious date squares. When I was younger, I liked sliding on her shiny waxed tile floor in the kitchen or playing in the playhouse near the... Continue Reading
