Robert O. Neal

Enfield and Lincoln – Robert O. Neal, 73 died Monday, November 22, 2021. He was born May 29, 1948, in Lincoln, the son of Robert M. and Ramona V. (Giles) Neal. Robert grew up in Howland, and was a graduate of Howland High School, class of 1966. He went to work for Pratt & Whitney in Connecticut until he married, then to Howland Tannery and State of Maine, and in 1970 he went to work for his father at Neal Associates Linton Agency in Lincoln until he retired. He was a member of the Kiwanis in Bangor; the Anah Temple Shrine, Horeb Lodge #93, A.F. & A.M., and Big Brothers of Bangor. Robert was the commissioner of the Enfield Softball League and played for King Brothers. An avid golfer, he spent many happy afternoons at Barnes Brook Golf Course. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Penny (Lancaster) Neal; a daughter, Stacey Neal; a son, Jason Neal and his wife Katie; a granddaughter, Mia Neal; and a grandson, Lance Neal, currently serving the USAF in Texas; a “second daughter” Marie Goucher; two sisters, Carol and Kelly; three brothers, Jeff, Scot, and Steve; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Robert was predeceased by a granddaughter, Mattie Mae. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dale Sereyko, Rodney and Brenda Hanson, Thane Ferguson, and Patricia Davis for their friendship and care given to Robert and Penny, and also to the caring staff at Winterberry Heights and Hospice Services of CHCS. There will be no services at this time. A private ceremony will be held in the spring. As Bob would have said himself, “I’ve gone golfing and will not be down for breakfast.” Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home, Clay Chapel, Lincoln. Gifts in memory of Robert may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association, 383 US Route One #2C, Scarborough, ME 04074.
