Mary Lou Hayes Obituary

Mary Lou Hayes, 75 of Clarksburg passed away on Monday, November 22, 2021 at United Hospital Center. She was born on July 17, 1946 in Rochester, NY, the daughter of the late Clifford Brooks Shuman Sr and Wilma Lee Weekly Metheny.

Mary Lou worked as a CNA and last worked at United Hospital Center for five years in the Oncology department.  She enjoyed shopping, collecting chefs, flowers, gardening and spending time with her family. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene.

Mary Lou is survived by her husband of forty-nine years, Chester “Gene” Eugene Hayes whom she married on September 4, 1972; one son, Rocky Wayne Hayes and wife Angie, Jane Lew; two grandchildren, Audrionna Wylan Hayes, Addison Eugene Hayes and girlfriend,  Naesha Rivera; two great grandchildren, Ivy and Indy; three step grandchildren, Cody Shelton and wife Cheyenne, Brian Shelton and fiancée Lindsey Pifer and Drew Shelton; one sister, Katherin Louise Shuman Nicholson and husband James Edward, Clarksburg; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mary Lou was preceded in death by siblings, Shirley Conley, twin brother, Ronald “Ronnie” Eugene Shuman; one nephew, James “Sonny" Dee Nicholson.

Family will receive friends for visitation at Davis Funeral Home, 124 Olen Thomas Drive Clarksburg, WV 26301, on Friday, November 26, 2021 from 3-8:00PM. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at 11:00AM with Pastor Michael Holyfield officiating. Interment will follow at Union Mission Cemetery.
