Bowen, David Cyril passed away suddenly at St. Joseph’s Hospital on November 20th, 2021 in his 79th year. Predeceased by His loving wife Gillian of 42 years. Lovingly remembered by his Son, Karl (Laurie Pugh-Marriott), Karl’s late wife Amanda and cherished Daughters Tracy and Sarah. Devoted Grampy of Beth, Kyle, and Evan. Loving Brother of William (Ineke) and Uncle to Madeliene and Eric. Pre-deceased by his loving parents William and Evelyn. Dave started his life in England – where he married the love of his life, Gillian, in 1963. He brought his young family to Canada in 1969. He spent his working years as a master craftsman, carton die-maker in England, then at Reid Press/Dominion here in Hamilton. He continued his career up to retirement in Brockville, ON at Somerville Packaging. Dave was also a highly skilled woodworker who crafted beautiful furniture for his family and friends. His retirement was spent travelling with his wife until her passing and then with his grandchildren, taking extreme pleasure in helping them grow to be the wonderful young adults they now are. Special thanks to St Joseph’s Hospital – ER staff and especially Dr. Healey who showed our family compassion, dignity, and care. Visitation will be held at P.X. Dermody Funeral Home, 796 Upper Gage Ave., (between mohawk and Fennel) on Sunday, December 5th, 2021 at 12:30pm followed by a Memorial Service at 1pm in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Canadian Cancer Society or Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated. Online condolences can be left on David’s Memory Wall for the family.
