Lewis John Stoper

Lewis John Stoper, 81, of Lumberport, passed away on Friday, November 19, 2021 at his home. He was born December 30, 1939 in Brownton, WV, a son of the late Lewis and Pauline (Tusher) Stoper. <br>Lewis is survived by his wife, Devanna Dobbins Stoper,; his children, Kimberly Wray and her husband David of Lumberport; Lewis John Stoper and his fiancé Angela Nassek of Lumberport; his step-children, Lori Reed of Clarksburg; Larry Cavallo and his wife Cathy of Bridgeport; Kimberly Straface and her husband Jeff of Clarksburg; and Frank E. Cavallo and his wife Christy of Mars, PA; his grandchildren, David Wray and his wife Lindsay; Mathew Wray and his wife Leah; Haley Stoper; Louie Stoper and his wife Bellany; and Hannah Stoper; fourteen step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and six step- great-grandchildren; as well as his brother, Alan Gray and his wife Elaine of Moatsville.<br>Lewis was preceded in death by his first wife, Janice Sinsel Stoper; and his siblings, Deloris Forquer; Richard Stoper; and Patricia Tucker.<br>Lewis was a member of the United Mine Workers Local 1501 in Shinnston. He retired from Robinson Run Mine #32 with 40 years of service. He was Catholic by faith. He was a caring and loving father, husband, Pap, brother, son, and friend. He enjoyed spending time with his family and helping others. He attended all the sporting events and school activities of his grandchildren. He was their “Biggest Fan”! He was a very humble man and was dearly loved by his family, especially his wife Devanna of 20 years. <br>Friends will be received at Perine Funeral Home, 1348 S. Pike St. Shinnston, on November 22, from 2-8pm. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on November 23, 2021. Interment will follow at the Shinnston Memorial Cemetery. The family requests that masks be worn while in attendance of the services.
