Cynthia “Cindy” Garcia Padilla was born to Dr. and Mrs. Ben and Trining Garcia in Mangaldan Pangasinan Philippines. At a young age, she was a child prodigy in piano who was able to memorize 15 sheets of complex classical piano music quickly and was accepted at the Conservatory of Music of the University of the Philippines. She earned a college degree in Foods and Nutrition from Centro Escolar University. She and her husband, Frank A. Padilla, met in grade school but he did not court her until college. They were married on April 18, 1965 in Quezon City Manila Philippines. Shortly thereafter they moved to Toronto Ontario Canada where they had their first child, Ray. They moved to Chicago in 1968 where she worked as a nutritionist at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. They then had their second child (Sue) and their youngest child (Steph) before leaving the South Side of Chicago to live in the suburb of Tinley Park. Cindy was an amazing cook who trained under the chef Nora Daza in the Philippines and shared her delicious Filipino dishes with friends and family. She also continued to play beautiful classical piano throughout her life and spent much of her time volunteering with organizations she was passionate about, including: St. Julie Billiart church as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, a lector, and worked with the Ministry of Care; she also served as first lady of PESO (Philippine Engineers and Scientists Organization of Chicago). Cindy passed away peacefully on Thursday November 18, 2021 surrounded by her husband, children, and grandchildren. Beloved wife of Francisco “Frank” A. Padilla. Loving mother of Ray Padilla, Susan (Rich) Schram, the late Robert Michael Padilla, and Steph (Joe) Sola. Cherished grandmother of Ben and Maggie Schram, and Lukas Sola. Dear sister of the late Cesar Garcia. Fond aunt of many. Preceded in death by her parents Dr. Ben and Trining Garcia. Visitation Sunday, November 28th, 2:00pm - 8:00pm at Friedrichs Funeral Home, 320 W. Central Rd, at Northwest Highway, Mount Prospect. Visitation Monday, November 29, 9:30am until Funeral Mass 10:30am, at St. Raymond de Penafort Church, Elmhurst Rd (Rt. 83) at Lincoln St., Mount Prospect. Live streaming of the mass will be available for those who cannot attend in person (twitch.tv/strayprivate). Entombment All Saints Cemetary.
