Clyde Howard Price Jr.

Funeral services for Clyde Howard Price, Jr. will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at Canaan Baptist Church with Reverend Dennis Bignar officiating. Burial will follow in Canaan Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. A visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Clyde was born October 8, 1942 in Springhill, Louisiana and entered into the presence of Jesus, his Savior, on November 17, 2021 in Leesville, LA at the age of 79. His family moved to Leesville in 1963. They began attending East Leesville Baptist Church where he met and married the love of his life, Lynda Jean Foster in August of 1966. Together, they spent the next 55 years in volunteer service and ministry for God. Because of his many talents he was able to work at a variety of jobs throughout his life, including civil service, full time Louisiana National Guard AST, Minister of Music and Education at Pine Grove Baptist Church in Livingston, La, a gas station owner, an electrician, a carpenter, and a sales agent for Rexel/Southern Electric until retirement. He earned a diploma in accounting from Sabine Trade School and later graduated from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary with an Associate’s Degree in Religious Education Ministries. Clyde had a beautiful tenor voice that he used throughout his life to sing praises to God. The highlight and joy of all his careers began when he joined the Southern Gospel group, The Certain Sound Singers in 1988. For the next 19 years, he and the other members of the group sang in churches and events throughout Louisiana and East Texas. He was a devoted member of East Leesville Baptist Church where he loved singing in the choir. His family and friends knew him as a quiet, humble, strong, and gentle man with a presence that announced itself and a kindness that drew everyone toward him. His smile lit up the room and his “Clyde grin” thrilled all of his kids and grandkids. He had a gentleness that held the smallest grandbaby but a strength that carried out any project that anyone asked of him and some that were just mentioned. He cared and provided for his family no matter their age or distance from home. Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Howard Price, Sr. and Dorothy Virginia Steagall Price and his sister, Joyce Aliene (Peggy) Price Greene. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years, Lynda Jean Foster Price of Leesville; daughter, Darla Fletcher and husband Chad; son, Duane Price; and daughter, Carrie Lisenbe and husband Jeremy; grandchildren, Allyson Poe and husband Ryan, Aimee Fletcher, Danielle Hendriex and husband Kyle, Eileen Fletcher and Alysia Fletcher; Landon Price and Kaydon Price; Madyn Lisenbe, Makayla Lisenbe, Mylie Lisenbe, Morgan Lisenbe and Jackson Lisenbe; great grandchildren Shannon Poe and Rylan Poe; two sisters, Linda Bignar and Diane Presley; as well as many nephews, nieces, and beloved friends.
