<p><em><strong><span style="font-size:16px;"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms,helvetica,sans-serif;">Michael Hill, of Cold Brook Rd., Homer, passed away following an extended illness on November 15, 2021 at the age of 69.</span></span></strong></em></p> <p><em><strong><span style="font-size:16px;"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms,helvetica,sans-serif;">A lifelong area resident, he was born August 4, 1952, a son of the late Irvin Hill and Margaret Bull and was a 1971 graduate of Homer High School.</span></span></strong></em></p> <p><em><strong><span style="font-size:16px;"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms,helvetica,sans-serif;">Mike was employed for 37 years at Brewers/Cooper Tools/Apex Tools, retiring in 2015 as a tool and die maker.</span></span></strong></em></p> <p><em><strong><span style="font-size:16px;"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms,helvetica,sans-serif;">Mike was an avid reader and outdoorsman and a longtime hunter. He loved, and took great pride in gardening and was always ready to lend a hand on his tractor, whether mowing or plowing.</span></span></strong></em></p> <p><em><strong><span style="font-size:16px;"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms,helvetica,sans-serif;">Surviving is his wife of 38 years Debra J. Rawson Hill; his children, Chad Hill (Athena) of Homer and Jessica L. Wright (Scott) of Homer; his seven loving grandchildren, Alexis, Kelcie, Jaime, Derick and Cadence Hill and Joseph and Vito Sonnacchio; and two sisters, Tamara Turner and Cynthia Almonte. He also has several nieces and a nephew and an aunt. </span></span></strong></em></p> <p><em><strong><span style="font-size:16px;"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms,helvetica,sans-serif;">In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Jo-Ann Hill and his grandmother, Elva Hill. </span></span></strong></em></p> <p><em><strong><span style="font-size:16px;"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms,helvetica,sans-serif;">Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 22, 2021 at the Donald L. Barber Funeral Home, 5016 US Route 11, Homer, with Pastor John Aukema officiating.</span></span></strong></em></p> <p><em><strong><span style="font-size:16px;"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms,helvetica,sans-serif;">Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service.</span></span></strong></em></p>Obituary
