On October 15, 1961, Bernhard was born to Sylvia Bevans and Jerry Toman in North Platte, Nebraska. Bernie, as he was referred to by those around him, spent his early life as an ironworker, then worked with the Public Service Company of Colorado, and spent the rest of his career working at the Comanche Power Station in Pueblo, Colorado where he retired in 2019. Throughout his life he spent his time fishing, hunting, working on his race cars, and most importantly attending to his children and wife whom he loved dearly. Bernie is survived by his wife of 26 years, Kimberly Toman of Denver, Colorado, son Christopher Toman (and wife Jessie) of Eaton, Colorado, daughter Angela Toman of Sidney, Nebraska, daughter Valerie Kuehl (and husband Nicholas) of Los Alamos, New Mexico, daughter Mandy Toman (and Brandon Potkul) of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, mother Sylvia Bevans of Loveland Colorado, father Gerald Toman of North Platte, Nebraska, sister Michelle Roethemeyer (and husband Randy) of North Platte, Nebraska, sister Marlene Crosier of Mitchell, Nebraska, brother Kenneth Binegar (and wife Suihua) of Mitchell Nebraska, nieces Iman (and her daughter Razan), Dalal, and Dema Albawardi of Saudi Arabia, Nephew Fasial Albawardi (and wife Alya, son Bandar) of Saudi Arabia, brother in law Mosaed Albawardi of Saudi Arabia, sister in law Suzanne Shewokis and nieces Sarah and Samantha Shewokis of Sandown, New Hampshire, and father in law Paul Shewokis of Enfield, Connecticut, as well as countless others whom he considered family. Bernie was a beaming light to those he met and had the ability to fix anything around him. He had a way of turning a room full of strangers into old time pals with his warm-hearted presence and sense of humor. Bernie always sought to give back to the community and served on the Beulah Water Works Board and was part of the Beulah Volunteer Fire Services before retiring to spend the rest of his days in Kemmerer, Wyoming with his wife and beloved dog, Dippy. Bernie was preceded in death by his father Jim Bevans of Loveland, Colorado, mother Phyllis Toman of North Platte, Nebraska, and sister Cindy Albawardi of Saudi Arabia. May we remember the times where Bernie made us laugh, taught us valuable life lessons, and loved us more than we knew possible. He will be truly missed by all.
