Annie Mae Card's Celebration of Life will be held at Starkville Church of God on Saturday, November 20, 2021. Visitation begins at 1:00 p.m. and services start at 2:00 p.m. Annie Mae Card was born April 19, 1937 to Mable Blanche (Young) Card and Murray Charlie Card in Starkville, MS. A graduate of Starkville High School in 1957 and a lifelong resident of Oktibbeha County, she worked alongside her mother in the cotton mill and later distributed newspapers for Starkville Daily News. Affectionately known as "Red" and "Big Ann", she stood 4'll", with a feisty spirit, strong personality, yet kind hearted and an inspiration to us all. She loved music especially gospel and taught herself to play harmonica at an early age. She wrote many songs and poems. She attended Starkville Church of God and personally knew Jesus Christ. She was always ready to share and to show Him to anyone that would listen. She was first and foremost the best mother us girls could have ever dreamed and asked for. She gave the best advice, a teacher, a counselor and best friend. Annie Mae was unique and special and if you were in her circle of close friends, consider yourself a treasure. Annie Mae Card is preceded in death by her father, Murray Charlie Card; her mother, Mable Blanche (Young) Card; and her brothers, Murray Charlie Card, Jr., William Y. Card and Robert Earl Card. She is survived by her daughters, Karen "Woodie" Cook (Thomas) of Starkville and Benita Blanche Byrdsong of Calhoun City, MS; her only grandchild, Jordan "J.T." Miller (Kierra) of Starkville, MS; her sister, Jean Thornton of Mathiston, MS; special friend and companion, Kenny Kee of Starkville, MS; and a host of nieces and nephews, two were dear to her, Janine Harper and Regina Huffman, both of Mathiston, MS and their sons, Josh Huffman of Navarre, FL and Charles "Charlie" Harper of Brandon, MS Aunt Mae loved you. She loved us all.
