<p>Doris Belle Abbott</p><p>June 29, 1928 – 2021</p><p><br></p><p>Doris Belle Abbott passed away at Golden Heights Manor on Tuesday, November 16th, 2021, at the age</p><p>of 93 years. She was born on June 29, 1928, to Robert and Virtue Cox in Bonavista, Newfoundland.</p><p>Doris was one of 6 children.</p><p><br></p><p>She married Edmund Abbott on December 1st, 1950, and together they raised two children, Evelyn and</p><p>Lloyd. Doris went to work at Fishery Products International in the 1970's and remained an employee until</p><p>her retirement at the age of 65.</p><p><br></p><p>Throughout her life, Doris was faithful to God and was a Salvation Army Soldier. She spent time in the</p><p>Songsters and was active in the Home League for several years. At the time of her passing, Doris was the</p><p>oldest Soldier in the Bonavista Corps of the Salvation Army.</p><p><br></p><p>Doris loved to sew, knit, cook and read. She was also a very quiet, sweet lady who treated others with</p><p>respect and kindness. She also exuded an incredible strength and faith throughout her life that was</p><p>inspirational to those who knew her.</p><p><br></p><p>She had one grandchild, Valerie, daughter of Evelyn and John Ploughman who she doted on always.</p><p><br></p><p>Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Robert &amp; Virtue, her brothers, Irving, Wilson (Myra) and</p><p>Willie (Emma) and sister Mildred Jackson (Carmel) and her husband Edmund.</p><p><br></p><p>She leaves to mourn, with a lifetime of beautiful memories, her daughter Evelyn Ploughman (John), son</p><p>Lloyd (Delores), brother Lloyd (Ruiko) and her granddaughter Valerie Ploughman. She also leaves behind</p><p>nephews and one niece, as well as a number of friends.</p><p><br></p><p>While we are saddened to not see her beautiful face or hear her soft voice, we cherish the memories and</p><p>celebrate the long life she was given to spend with us. Her journey is over and she has gone home to be</p><p>with Jesus and her loved ones gone ahead. Until we meet again …</p><p><br></p><p>Visitation will take place at Strathie's Funeral Home November 17th and 18th from 2:00pm-4:00 and 7:00pm-9:00pm. A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 19th from the Salvation Army Citadel at 2:00pm.</p>

Doris Belle Abbott passed away at Golden Heights Manor on Tuesday, November 16th, 2021, at the age

of 93 years. She was born on June 29, 1928, to Robert and Virtue Cox in Bonavista, Newfoundland.

Doris was one of 6 children.


She married Edmund Abbott on December 1st, 1950, and together they raised two children, Evelyn and

Lloyd. Doris went to work at Fishery Products International in the 1970's and remained an employee until

Throughout her life, Doris was faithful to God and was a Salvation Army Soldier. She spent time in the
