Ronald Frances Hanthorn, age79, of Cottonwood, AZ passed away on November 16, 2021 at the Verde Valley Med Center in Cottonwood.

Ron was born October 25, 1942 in McCook to parents Richard F. and Zola M. (Baade) Hanthorn. He was one of three children who grew up near McCook on the family farm, graduating from Red Willow High School. Ron furthered his education at the University of Nebraska School of Agriculture and the University of Nebraska School of Medicine. 

While attending the University, Ron was a member of the Army ROTC. He was stationed in Italy for two and half years and in Vietnam where he served in the Quartermaster Corp during the Tet Offensive.  Ron was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain and received a Bronze Star.

Ron enjoyed athletics in high school and was a lifelong golfer.  He enjoyed the senior softball teams, coaching and playing in Prescott Valley.  Ron worked as a pediatrician for many years in Maricopa County, Arizona before retiring in Prescott Valley.  He spent his entire life caring about and serving others. He lived his life according to his Christian values. 

Ron was preceded in death by parents and his brother, Ellis Hanthorn.

Those left to celebrate his life include his children, Julie (Hanthorn) Harris and Jeffrey Hanthorn; sister, Elaine (Jim) Misner; grandchildren, Michael Harris and Jessica (Taime) Hill; ex wife, Jilene Cohn; nieces and nephews, Richard Misner, Janelle (Charles) Graham, Mark (Felisa) Hanthorn and Mary (Toby) Holmes; great grandchildren, Coben, Riley and Jameson Hill; six great nieces and nephews and a host of extended family members, lifelong colleagues and friends.
