Geraldine Mae Schlottman Obituary

Geraldine Mae Schlottman, 90, of Homer, passed away on November 13, 2021.

She was born on April 13, 1931, to the late George and Blanche (Ridgeway) Collmenter at Jackson, MI. She was a graduate of Homer High School. Geraldine worked in various capacities for Homer Public Schools including as a bus aid and teacher aid. While riding on the school bus as an aid, she pulled a woman to safety from a fire following a car accident. The family presented her with an award for this selfless act. She also served the school as a crossing guard and in the lunchroom.

She grew up on a farm and loved nature all of her life.  She loved watching wildlife; birds, butterflies, deer, turkey, you name it; from her picture window right up to the end. Hummingbirds, orioles, cardinals and butterflies were a few of her favorites.  She enjoyed gardening, reading, and crocheting. Most of all, she enjoyed time with family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved her family and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Her face would light up when her grandchildren came in the room.  Grandkids could always count on candy when visiting grandma.

Geraldine was united in marriage with Keith Schlottman, who preceded her in death on December 10, 2009. They were married 58 years and he was the love of her life. She is survived by her children, Keith (Linda) Schlottman, Diane (Scott) Beebe, Kathy (Mike) Payne, Linda (Kelly) Warner; grandchildren, Leslie, Keith (Niki), Jennifer (James), Tom, Brock (Sarah), Rachelle, Norman (Ashley), Corie (Brent), Jackie, Brandon (Lauren), and Brent (Sara).

She was preceded in death by her son, Mark Schlottman; and her brother, Harold Collmenter.
