A private Memorial Service will he held for Mr. Wilbert Paul Dupont, Jr.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Wilbert Paul "Pumpkin" Dupont, Jr., age 56, of Opelousas, Louisiana, on Saturday, November 13, 2021, at Opelousas General Health System.

Wilbert had many jobs, some of which where in the oilfield, a painter and worked in the construction industry. When he wasn't able to do those jobs anymore, he still liked to do repair work on small motors and lawnmowers. On quiet days, you could find him watching one of his favorite tv shows, Andy Griffith. He loved spending time with his family and his dog, Floppy. Wilbert will be missed deeply by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Cheryl Darby Dupont of Opelousas; step-daughter, Michelle Miller (Carl) of Opelousas; brothers, Joseph (Angelina) Dupont of Krotz Springs, Larry (Linda) Dupont of Krotz Springs and Jerry Dupont of Krotz Springs; sisters, Merrie Jagneaux of Opelousas, Shirley Ray of Krotz Springs, Melissa Johnson of North Carolina, Patsy (Jonathan) Beard of Bayou Current and Beulah "Renee" Dupont of Mississippi; sisters-in-law, Jeanette Darby Johnson of Tennessee; and Judy Darby Lacombe of Lake Charles; his dog, who was almost like a child to him, Floppy; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Wilbert was preceded in death by his step-son, Shawn Boudreaux; parents, Wilbert Dupont and Mary Benoit Dupont; grandparents, Joseph Dupont and Beulah Guillot Dupont; and Ulyesse Benoit and Nita Menard Benoit; brothers-in-law, Horace Jagneaux, Richard Ray and Earl "Spoon" Darby, Jr.; sister-in-law, Betty Darby Ellis; father-in-law, Earl Darby; and mother-in-law, Nelma Joubert Darby.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Patrick Gillespie and the amazing staff at Opelousas General Health System.
