Michael Andrew Byrd, 48, of Clarksburg passed away on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at United Hospital Center due to COVID-19. He was born December 29, 1972 in Virginia Beach, VA a son of the late, Gary William Byrd, Sr..
Michael is survived by his loving wife, Betty Louise Kostelac Byrd, whom he married on July 5, 1997.
He is also survived by his siblings, Cathy Riley of Anmoore; Gary William “Bill” Byrd, Jr. and his wife Robin of Clarksburg; Bryan Byrd and his wife Crystal of Good Hope; and Jonette Byrd of Crooked Run; his mother-in-law, Debra Smith and her husband Ronnie of Clarksburg; grandmother-in-law, Betty Kostelac of Nutter Fort; sister-in-law, Melissa Bee and her husband Kevin of Clarksburg; two special nieces that he considered his own children, Andra and Kaitlyn Bee; and a host of nieces and nephews that absolutely adored. Also surviving are his dear friends who he adored, Jadyn and Gaven Hogsed; as well as special friends, Uncle John Jenkins (who called Michael several times a day) Brian Hayes; Johnny Davis; and Doug Smith.
In addition to his father, Michael was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Carl Kostelac; his brother-in-law, Chuck Riley; as well as his nephew, Tony Riley.
Michael loved the outdoors. He would hunt, fish, and spend weekends on his boat at the lake. He also enjoyed re-loading ammunition and shooting guns. Michael was an avid sports fan and could be found watching the Dolphins, Lakers, and Mets in his well-appointed media room. He also was extremely fond of the dogs that he kept close over the years.
