Gary Walker, 75 year old rural Woodward resident, died Wednesday, November 10, 2021 in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 13, 2021 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Prairie View Cemetery.

Gary Dean Walker was born on February 15, 1946 in Lebanon, Oregon to Marion Cecil and Virginia Lea (Carter) Walker. Gary lived in Lebanon, Oregon until he was 14 and that is when his family moved to Woodward. He was united in marriage to Janet Hoffert on February 25, 1967 in Woodward, Oklahoma. They made their first home in Quinlan, Oklahoma in a house made of railroad ties before moving to Woodward. Gary worked for various oilfield companies, the Woodward Public Schools and was an Equipment Operator for ODOT for many years, retiring in 2020.

He was a member of the 1000 Hills Ranch church. He enjoyed hunting fishing, going to car races, going to church and having coffee with his friends at Sweets. His favorite times were times he spent with his family, especially his grandkids.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Janet Walker of the home; one son, Doug Walker and wife Lesa of Sharon; two daughters, Shannon Battershell and husband Rob of Woodward, Colette Hartman and husband Kevin of Happy, Texas; brothers, Billie Walker and wife Janetta of Fargo, Tommy Walker and wife Brenda of Crosby, Minnesota; ten grandchildren: Baron Walker, Jacob Crabtree and wife Maggie, Taten Walker and wife Katie, Braydn Woodie, Dakota Walker, Kandace Bressler and family, Kim Diaz and family, Casey Busselle, Kendra Bender and family, Kyle Bender and family; three great-grandchildren, Ella Crabtree, Elaina Crabtree, and Lewis Crabtree; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Terry and Joyce Gilbreath of Woodward, Leland Cheap of San Antonio, Texas, Eric and Pat Puyear of Foss Lake, David and Debbie Hoffert of Woodward; other relatives and many friends.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Bonnie Howe and Lavina Sue White, son-in-law, Denson Crabtree.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hope Center with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
