Roy “Dutch” Elwood Trobaugh Obituary

Roy “Dutch” Trobaugh, 89, of Elk Point, South Dakota passed away on Sunday morning, Nov. 7, 2021 at Unity Point Health-St. Luke’s in Sioux City, Iowa. Funeral service will be Friday, Nov. 12 at 11 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Elk Point with Pastor David Bambas officiating. Burial will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City with military honors conducted by American Legion of Elk Point. Visitation with family present will be an hour prior to the service at the church. Roy Troubaugh was born Aug. 12, 1932 in Sioux City, IA to Dennis and Mae (Critters) Trobaugh. He joined the Army and later earned his GED. He married Isabel Whitlock on Jan. 8, 1955 at Riverside Methodist Church in Sioux City. Mr. Trobaugh served as the Elk Point Police Chief and worked for the Union County Highway Department. He and Isabel owned Roy’s Place on Main Street Elk Point and Roy’s Salvage. Mr. Trobaugh is survived by his wife, Isabel, of 67 years and 10 months; two children, Steve Trobaugh of Sioux City and Kathy Trobaugh of Elk Point; two grand- children, Madison and Alison; and a step-grandson, Sean, and his siblings, Genevieve “Bum” Friezer and Jerry Trobaugh. Mr. Trobaugh was preceded in death by his parents and 12 siblings, Clara “Sis” Hill, Margaret “Maggie” Gilkison, William “Bill” Trobaugh, Bruce Trobaugh, Ernest “Gene” Trobaugh, Melvina “Vine” Nelson, Robert “Berts” Whitlock, Norma “Pat” McAnnis, Den- nis Trobaugh, Maryetta “Etta” Seaton, Susan “Susie” Paugh and Mildred “Millie” Hogan.
