<p>Rosa Maria Gonzalez, age 78, passed away November 6, 2021. She was born June 6, 1943 to Tomas and Juanita Rodriguez in Tamaulipas, Mexico. She was raised in Robstown, Texas. She graduated from Robstown Highschool and Del Mar College with an associate&rsquo;s degree in Administration.<br /> <br /> Rosa Maria, married to husband, Victor H. Gonzalez of Corpus Christi for 20 years until his death in 1996. She was employed by the Texas Department of Human Services for 27 years. Nurturing her love of children, she became a substitute teacher with CCISD for 10 years, until her grandchildren came into her life. She devoted her life after working to teach her grandchildren about life skills, respect for others, hard work, love, and laughter. She was with her grandchildren for the most important moments in their lives attending their baptisms, communions, confirmations, sporting events, art events, graduations and many many many birthday parties and other celebrations. Most of all she loved these moments because it brought her family together.<br /> <br /> Rosa loved God first and foremost as she was a devout Catholic. She served as a Eucharistic minister, sang in the church choir and was a member of the Guadalupanas for many years.<br /> <br /> She loved golfing and playing dominos. She loved reading and writing short stories about her experiences with her family. Her favorite TV shows were Gun Smoke and Little House on the prairie were always playing when you walked into her room. Another of her great loves was the Dallas Cowboys!! Some of the special highlights of her life was attending several Dallas Cowboy football games. (she got to see the Cowboys play at the old and new stadium). Her most favorite past time was going to the movies. She was current on all the latest block buster movies. She especially loved to watch Clint Eastwood, 007 movies and action-packed movies. She wasn&rsquo;t one for the sappy romance movies. Favorite thing about going to the movies&hellip;the popcorn! Rosa loved to sew, she was very social and loved to attend functions with her friends, loved to have &ldquo;cafecito&rdquo; at the taqueria with her comadres.<br /> <br /> Rosa is preceded in death by her parents, Tomas and Juanita Rodriguez; a daughter, Julia Maldonado; son, Steven Maldonado, and her sister, Gloria Telez.<br /> <br /> Left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Christina (Jesse Gonzalez); grandsons, John Michael and Thomas Jay (Rebekah) Gonzalez; Daughter, Lily Fonseca; granddaughters, Phoebe Noelle and Zoe Nicole Fonseca; son, Ruben Guadalupe (Sandra) Gonzalez; &ldquo;Honorary Son&rdquo;, Gilbert Flores; step-son, Victor Gonzalez (Su); step-daughters, Monica and Wendy; granddaughter, Julie Maldonado and great grandson, Jeremiah; granddaughter Caitlyn (Jaxon) Hill; grandson, Steven Anthony Maldonado; brother, Celio (Marcy) Rodriguez; sisters, Ester, Lupe, Mary Lou, &amp; Estella and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and &ldquo;Sons from another&rdquo;<br /> <br /> Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Monday, November 8, 2021 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening.
