Jerald "Jerry" Allison Obituary

North English- Jerald Thomas Allison was born June 1, 1935 in Albia, Iowa the son of Guy Milford and Geneva Mae (Lane) Allison. He graduated from North English High School in 1954. Jerry farmed in the North English area for many years and worked at the University Of Iowa. He was united in marriage to Kay Gerard, to this union they were blessed with four children. They later divorced. On January 8, 1999 he was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Bergmann in Williamsburg. Jerry was a member of the North English United Methodist Church, "The Liar's Club," the Green Valley Boys and was a former 4-H leader. He enjoyed playing games like Connect 4 and Monopoly, fishing, traveling with Mary, spending time with his grandchildren, raising dogs, visiting the EV History Center, watching Iowa Hawkeye sports and camping, especially at the Iowa State Fair. Jerry died on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at the English Valley Care Center in North English at the age of 86 years. He is survived by his wife Mary of North English; three daughters Susie Lundberg of Iowa City, Nancy (Dennis) Combs of Newton and Debbie Allison-Potts of North English; five grandchildren; one great grandchild; six stepchildren Rebecca, Denise, Darlene, Jeffrey, Norm Jr., and Larry; ten step grandchildren; three step great grandchildren; a sister Martha Cobb; cousin/son Mark (Renee) Allison all of North English; and beloved dog Sallie. He was preceded by his parents; a son Denny Allison; a brother Jimmy Allison; brother-in-law Gene Cobb; cousin Melvin Allison; and his dog Sammie. Celebration of Life Service will be held 1:00 pm on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at the Powell Funeral Home in North English. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until service time on Wednesday. Burial will be in the Piersol Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the English Valley History Center. The family encourages attendees to wear a mask or face covering.
