Joe R Windle Obituary

Joe R. Windle, age 72 of Toledo, OH. passed away peacefully November 5, 2021 with his wife at his bedside, in Hospice of Northwest OH. (Toledo). Joe was born on February 2, 1949, to Marvin and Virginia (Lampson) Windle. Joe was a graduate of Rogers High School and obtained an Electrician Degree from Owens Community College. Joe loved his country and proudly served in the U.S. Army in Nuremberg, Germany, wiring missile systems that were used during the Vietnam Conflict. Joe received the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and was a Sharp Shooter M16. For 30+ years Joe worked as an Electrician at Toledo Stamping, Toledo Technologies, Retiring from GTE Technologies in 2009 Joe was a member of the Adams Township American Legion Post #553. Joe was an avid bowler at Twin Oaks Bowling Alley where he bowled a “300” game and received the “Prestigious 300 Gold Ring” that he wore with pride. Joe also coached 4th Ward Little League Baseball for many years. Joe was also active in the Boy Scouts of America with his son and was an assistant Scout Master. Joe also was an active band parent for the St. Francis De Sales High School Band while his son was a member for four years. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, brother Leo (Lanny) Windle. Surviving is his wife of 31 years Terri (Theresa Nellett), son, Justin Nellett, sister-in-law Joan Windle, cherished nieces and nephews, Amy Pavlica, Rob (Stephanie) Windle, Derek (Sally) Sobczak, great nephews Brody and Cade Pavlica, sister and brother-in-law, Lowell and Peggy Simon. Also surviving are aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nephews and nieces, fur babies, Mocha and Chloe. Most importantly his granddaughter, Taryn Anne Sobczak, who was the sparkle in Joe’s eyes. The family will receive friends and family at the Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home, 3453 Heatherdowns Blvd. at Byrne Rd., Wednesday, November 10, 2021, after 4 p.m., with Adams Township Legion Post #553 service at 7:00 p.m., followed by a Military Service. Internment will take place in Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. The family suggests Memorials to the Wounded Warrior Project.
