Samuel Clinton Bales

Loving father, son, brother, and uncle, Samuel Clinton Bales, age 49 of Martinsville, gained his angel wings after a 2 ½ year courageous battle with cancer at 11:15 am on Saturday, October 30, 2021, at the IU Health Hospital in Bloomington surrounded by his loving family. His life began on Wednesday, November 24, 1971, in Bloomington, Indiana. Sam was the second born son to Richard Lee Bales and Pamela Dalene (Warmoth) Bales. He graduated from Martinsville High School with the class of 1990 and soon thereafter, he gained employment with Altec Industries in Indianapolis working as a mechanic. He worked at Altec for several years before becoming a chimney sweep at Ye Olde Chimney Sweep Company. He thoroughly enjoyed working as a chimney sweep and had recently started up his own company doing side jobs. For the past seven years, Sam had been working as a mechanic for L.E. Myers Company in Indianapolis. He was a longtime member of Zion’s Hill Baptist Church in Martinsville, as well as the IBEW Local #1393. Sam loved to watch sports of any kind, though he was especially fond of IU Basketball, IU Football, the Indianapolis Colts, and the Boston Red Sox. He also loved to ride his side by side, hunt, watch his nephew race 4-wheelers and above all, he treasured family get-togethers. Family was everything to Sam, including his beloved French Bulldog, Bonnie! His death has left the hearts of many broken and holding onto cherished memories including his mother, Pam Bales of Martinsville; fiancé, Jennifer Stierwalt of Martinsville; three daughters whom he raised and adored, Peyton Bales, Ellie Bales and KJ Bales all of Martinsville; brother, Ryan (wife, Tabetha) Bales of Martinsville; sister-in-law, Michele Davis of Martinsville; maternal grandmother, Dorothy (husband, Bud) Dill of Martinsville; four nephews, Joe (wife, Erika) Bales, Jake Bales, and Kolten and Kinser Bales; one niece, Monroe Bales and one great nephew, Colt Bales. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Lee Bales on January 4, 2021; and one brother, Jason Bales on February 16, 2008. Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, November 5, 2021, from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at Zion’s Hill Baptist Church, 5050 Turkey Track Rd., Martinsville.
