Vernon Lesley Troy, age 74, of Tacoma, WA passed away peacefully in hospice care in Lincoln City, OR on October 16, 2021. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 50 years, Teresa, his daughter Dr. Meredith Troy Mann (Peter) of Lincoln City, OR, and son Dennis Vernon Troy (Kim) of Reno, NV. He was Poppa to Graham, Bennett, and Clara Mann and Neve and Greta Troy. Vernon is also survived by his sister Pamela Warnick of Spokane, WA and brother Bruce Troy (Kim) of Edmond, OK.

 

Born in Spokane, Washington to Lyle and Olive Troy, he attended Shadle Park High School. With a very low draft number he joined the United States Air Force. Upon discharge, Vernon went on to graduate from the University of Puget Sound in 1974. Professionally, he spent 35 years working in the Seattle insurance industry.

 

Vernon had many talents. He was an originator of dad jokes, a domestic grounds keeper extraordinaire, an accomplished handyman, master salmon griller, amateur pyrotechnician, and full time supporter of his kids’ activities. Vernon enjoyed life long family vacations to Lake Pend Oreille, tropical beaches, classic cars, oldies music, and local professional sports. He was a longtime active member of First Lutheran Church in Tacoma, WA.

 

Vernon’s love and devotion to his wife was evident all the way to his passing.  He was proud of his children and loved watching his grand-babies grow.  He cherished time spent with his siblings as well as with his extended family and he was an adored son-in-law, brother-in-law, cousin, and uncle.  Vernon was a loyal friend and was always willing to lend a helping hand around the neighborhood.
