Thomas (Tom) Robert Barney Obituary

Thomas (Tom) Robert Barney was born to Thomas and Lenore Barney on July 24, 1943. At 78, he passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Nephi, UT on October 28, 2021. He grew up in Salt Lake City and graduated from Bingham High School.

Tom was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 354 for 58 years. He was well respected and served as President as well as many other positions within the organization.

In 1974, Tom married the love of his life, Sharon (Rasmussen) Robinson. Together they raised three amazing sons Gary Robinson, Greg Robinson, and Mike Barney.

Tom loved Harley Davidson motorcycles, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if you’d find a motorcycle being built in Tom and Sharon’s living room. He enjoyed to hunt, fish, and golf. He also took pride in being a grandpa to his grandkids and great grandkids. Sharon lovingly cared for Tom for several years as he battled diabetes and kidney disease.

He is preceded in death by his parents Tom and Lenore Barney as well as granddaughter, Crystal Madrigal. He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Barney, and children Tina Barney, Bob Barney, Gary Robinson, Greg Robinson, and Mike Barney, along with 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Tom will be greatly missed by his friends and family. Our family wants to thank the neighbors, local police department, & EMTs for all the help they provided in assisting Tom!

A viewing will be held Thursday, November 4, 2021 from 10:00 a.m-10:45 a.m., followed by funeral services held at 11:00 a.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Nephi, Utah.
