Mary Stanton was born in Panola, Alabama on October 28, 1930. She was the second of 10 children born to the late Walter and Pinkie Stanton. Mary accepted Christ at an early age. After graduating from Sumpter High School she continued her educational pursuit at Spelman College before moving to Detroit, Michigan. Mary later married the love of her life, Henry Wilson Sharp who preceded her in death. To this union were born three children: Linda, Henry Jr. and Thomas. As a long-time member of Metropolitan Church of God, Mary served in various capacities including Sunday school teacher. Mary worked various jobs such as Metropolitan Insurance Company, Ford Motor Company and eventually retired from Advo Systems Inc. She later in life attended Wayne County Community College where she obtained a degree in Gerontology. Mary enjoyed many hobbies including drawing, painting, pottery, gardening, and tinkering. Mary is survived by her three children: Linda (Brian); Henry Jr; Thomas (Lolita). Three siblings: Thomas (Connie); Robert; Bessie; a special niece Ethel and brother-in-law Moses. Granddaughters: Andria, Briana, Tiffany and Lauryn (Wesley) great-grandchildren: Janai, Taylor, Myles and DeJuan Jr. in addition to a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings James, Susie, Bethelyn, Walter Jr, Mamie, and Dorothy.
