Cathy Shumpert Rimmer, 60, passed away at her home in Calhoun City on Tuesday, October 26, 2021. Born August 4, 1961, in Bruce, she was the daughter of the late Edmond Shumpert and the late Hazel Boughtman Shumpert. Cathy attended Bruce High School, and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. On June 12, 1984, she married John Rimmer, and they spent 37 years together until his passing in 2012. She loved being outside in nature, doing yardwork or tending to her flowers. She also loved cooking and spending time with her family. Her memory will be cherished forever in their hearts. Pryor Funeral Home is honored to serve the Rimmer family. A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, October 28, 2021, at 4:00pm at Crossroads Cemetery. Bro. Kenneth Rimmer will be officiating, with interment to follow. Pallbearers will be James Bevill, Dustin Bevill, Lester Williams, and Fernando Gonzalez. She leaves behind her daughters, Chasta Rimmer of Calhoun City, and Denise Rimmer of Green Bay, WI; brothers, Benny Shumpert of Gulf Shores and Dean (Diann) Shumpert of Treemont; sisters, Lounell Shumpert and Edna Shumpert, both of Calhoun City; and grandchildren, Jakob Haynes, Lila Rimmer, Havana Gonzalez, Izaiah Gonzalez, and Gabriella Gonzalez. She was preceded in death by his parents; her husband, John Rimmer; sister, Peggy Brassfield; and brothers, George Shumpert, Darell Shumpert, Jim Shumpert, and Edmond Shumpert, Jr. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Pryor Funeral Home to help with expenses.
