Faith M. Horton

Faith Margaret (Worman) Horton, age 83, passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 26, 2021, in her home at Grand Junction, Iowa. Faith was born on May 4, 1938, in Sault Ste. Marie, MI, to parents Perry and Margaret (Stoneham) Worman. After the death of her father Perry, her mother married Robert Greatrix and together they raised Faith alongside her younger sister Miriam (Worman) Miller in Hammond, IN. Faith attended the Morton High School and was an active member in the local The Salvation Army church; it was at this church that, at age 9, Faith met the boy she would one day marry - Larry Horton. Faith and Larry married on September 30, 1955, and had five children together - Debra, Jo-Ann, John, Pam, and Ruth. The family lived in Hammond until 1963 until they moved to Madrid, IA, where they were the caretakers of The Salvation Army Camp Laurie until its closure in 1970. Faith worked for some time at the Woodward and Madrid Nursing Homes for a few years before starting at the Woodward Resource Center in 1977; she retired from her long career in 1998. In 1983, Faith and Larry moved to Grand Junction, IA, where they owned and operated Horton House Antiques. In her later years, Faith enjoyed spending time with her family and furbabies, gardening, scrapbooking, baking, bird watching, reading, and watching Hallmark Movies with a Diet Coke at hand. Faith is preceded in death by her husband Larry, daughter Debra, son John, her parents Perry & Margaret, stepfather Robert, sister Miriam, and brother David. Faith is survived by daughters Jo-Ann Hall (Jefferson, IA), Pam Winebrenner (Grand Junction, IA), and Ruth Horton (Beatrice, NE), foster sister Alice Brown (Rockford, IL), brother-in-law Harold (Diane) Horton (Hammond, IN), as well as 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter, several furbabies, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and a circle of friends. A private ceremony will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2021, followed by a graveside burial at Dalander Cemetery in Madrid, IA. Memorials to the family will be used at their discretion.
