Doris Browning

Doris Browning of Gilman Bottom, WV Doris Browning, 84, of Gilman Bottom, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, leaving from her residence, after an extended illness. She was born on November 1, 1936, at Slagle, the daughter of the late Harry O’Neil, Bradie Bailey O’Neil Roark, and Jack Roark. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Harry ONeil, Jr., Carlos O’Neil, Sammy O’Neil, and Danny O’Neil; three sisters, Eloise Pennington, Betty Phillips, and Nancy Roark; and one son-in-law, Bill Dalton. Doris was a 1955 graduate of Man High School. After graduation, she began working at Man Appalachian Regional Hospital. She was the third person hired when Man ARH opened and worked there as a certified surgical tech until the day the hospital closed. Doris was a faithful longtime member of the Gilman Bottom Community Tabernacle. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 57 years, George Samuel Browning; two daughters, Karen Dalton of Lorado and Kathy Brown and her husband Tyke of Davin; three grandchildren, Kelli Grimmett and her husband Jon of Man, Kevin Brown of Charlotte, NC, and Kassondra Brown of Davin; two great-grandchildren, Penelope and Lincoln Brown of Charlotte, NC; one brother, Donald O’Neil and his wife Donna of PA; one very loving special sister, Linda Copley of Davin; her sister-in-law, Lorraine O’Neil of McConnell; and a special thank you to her nephew, Jimmy Copley for all of his kindness; and many nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives, church family, and friends. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, October 30, 2021, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man with Rev. Jonathan Hawkins officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home also. Pall bearers will be family and friends.
