David Michael Payne, Sr., age 75 years, a former resident of Woodbridge, VA and a resident of Elkins, WV, departed this life early Tuesday morning, October 26, 2021 at the Davis Medical Center at Elkins, WV. He was born Thursday, March 7, 1946 at Alexandria, VA., a son of the late Daniel Mason Payne and Evelyn Alice Long Payne. On December 8, 1990 at Woodbridge, VA, he was married to Nancy Ellen Payne, who survives. They had celebrated thirty one years of marriage. Also surviving are one son, David Michael Payne, Jr. of Stafford, VA; two daughters, Denise Michelle Moss and husband Pat of Stafford, VA and Danielle Marie Woodcock of Gaithersburg, MD; two step-sons, Christopher Jay Dorcsis of Forest, VA and Keith James Dorcsis and wife Sarah of Chesapeake, VA; one sister, Gay Ellen Lamb and husband Bill of Front Royal, VA; ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death one brother, Doug Payne; and one sister, Bonnie Everett. He was a 1964 graduate of George C. Marshall High School in Falls Church, VA. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy for four years, serving during the Vietnam War on an aircraft carrier. He worked as a Supervisor for a laundry company, retiring during 2015. He was a member of the American Legion, the N.R.A., a collector of guns and ammo, enjoyed hiking and he was a very devoted Washington Redskins Fan. He was Lutheran by faith. Mr. Payne’s request for cremation was honored. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
