Graydon Long Obituary

P. Graydon Long, 92, of New Stanton, passed away on Thursday October 21, 2021 He was born on January 3, 1929 in New Stanton, the son of the late Philip and Izetta (Costello) Long. Graydon was a graduate of Greensburg High School and was self-employed as a proud, lifetime farmer. Graydon also drove school bus for the Hempfield School District and was a member of First Trinity United Church of Christ in Youngwood. He was a longtime Director of the Westmoreland County Fair, a charter member of the Westmoreland County Farm Bureau and a Penn State Extension Executive committee member. Graydon was also a member of the Westmoreland County Cattlemen's Association, the FHA administration board, the Westmoreland County Conservation District and the Agway Board. He also served as a past member on the New Stanton Borough Council, the New Stanton Emergency Management and the New Stanton Planning Commission. He is survived by his children, Phillip G. Long (Debbie) of New Alexandria, Deborah A. Long of Latrobe, DeWitt R. Long of Bremo Bluff, Va. and Jeffrey N. Long of New Stanton and his seven grandchildren. Graydon is also survived by his brother David A. Long (Sondra) of Youngwood. In addition to his parents, Graydon is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Miriam (Rust) Long; his sister, Kathleen Singleton and his infant sister, Jane Marie Long. A visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Monday, October 25, in the C. Richard McCauley Funeral Home Inc. 101 S 4th St. Youngwood. A funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday, October 26, in the funeral home with interment to follow in the Youngwood Cemetery.
